Frequently Asked Questions

  • Trans Creator Camp (TCC) is a radically participatory outdoor gathering by and for trans and nonbinary artists, makers, and creatives of all kinds. Whether you work with your hands, voice, body, or pen, this is a space to get inspired, collaborate, and conjure what’s next. The vibe is playful, spontaneous, and fabulous—a chance to explore creativity, rest, and connection in community.

  • TCC is the signature camp of Trans Bloom, an intergenerational trans and BIPOC-centered cultural hub dedicated to healing through creativity and connection. We create programming – organizing retreats, artist residencies, community events, and land stewardship – to strengthen community resilience, foster meaningful relationships with nature, and promote joy.

Trans Bloom is a proudly BIPOC and trans-led organization started by and for artists. Our team has been organizing in the community for over 30 years at organizations such as the Trans Oral History Project, Trans Lifeline, the SF Transgender Film Festival, and the Translations International Transgender Film Festival. Learn more about the folks behind the magic here.

  • This is an experiment in collaborative world-building where every camper contributes something, big or small. Throughout the weekend, you can explore optional stations and activities:

    • Glam Zone – Try on a new look or help others discover theirs

    • Art Zone – Add your touch to a collaborative art project that will live at Tranifest Ranch

    • Healing Zone – Bring or receive healing practices (tarot, bodywork, meditation, energy work)

We also anticipate varied contributions including bonfire talks, stargazing, jam sessions, skillshares, nature walks, and plenty of time to connect with new friends and collaborators.

  • This camp is for trans and gender-expansive creators, 18+. You don’t have to be a professional artist—just bring curiosity and whatever lights you up creatively. Our capacity is 40 people. It is limited by our facilities, and if we have too many registrants, we will prioritize BIPOC participation.

  • We want to be upfront: Trans Bloom is still growing, and while we’re committed to access, we’re not yet able to offer everything we dream of. This retreat takes place on rural land with uneven terrain and limited infrastructure. That means we cannot guarantee full accessibility—especially for folks with mobility or medical access needs. We are actively working toward a future where Tranifest Ranch is more accessible to more of us.

Here’s what we can offer right now:

    • Flat, car-accessible camping spots near main activity areas (600 ft) and indoor bathroom with electrical access

    • Limited house-adjacent camping spots with electrical outlets for CPAP machines and other medical devices

    • Refrigeration for temp-sensitive medications

    • Shaded areas and a quiet space to decompress

    • Consent-based culture where access needs are welcomed in every negotiation

    • Some dietary accommodations including vegan, gluten-free, and allergen-aware meals

    • An access point person available to troubleshoot and support during the weekend

    Here’s what’s still limited:

    • Outdoor showers are not wheelchair accessible

    • All paths are uneven dirt trails

    • Nighttime lighting is minimal other than next to the house

    • We are not able to meet complex medical or care needs on-site

If you're thinking about attending and have questions about what’s possible, please reach out at info@transbloom.org. We’ll be honest about what we can offer and are open to creative problem-solving together.
